Saka fires Arsenal to victory over Sheffield United

BUKAYO Saka scored his first Premier League goal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, helping Arsenal to a 2-1 win over Sheffield United.

The 19-year-old has had quite an eventful few days: he received his first senior England call-up just last week, opting for his country of birth over his country of heritage Nigeria.

After a tepid first half of few chances, the young winger and Ivorian forward Nicolas Pepe gave Arsenal a 2-0 lead.

David McGoldrick got Sheffield United’s only goal.

Saka got Arsenal on their way with a free header after brilliant approach play in the 61st minute.

Three minutes later, Arsenal doubled their lead as Pepe placed a clever shot into the bottom corner.

Visitors Sheffield United ensured it was a nervy finish for the hosts with McGoldrick’s 84th minute goal but Arsenal held on for their third league win of the season in four matches.

With the three points, Mikel Arteta’s team moved up to fourth in the table with nine points while Sheffield United are 19th with no points.
