Super Eagles friendlies: Four players in camp as Etebo withdraws

THE Super Eagles began preparations for the friendly internationals against Algeria and Tunisia with the arrival of four players in the team’s camp on Monday, Naija Times reports.

The Nigerian national team will face Algeria on Friday then play Tunisia four days later in Austria in tune-up matches for November’s 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Both matches take place at the Jacques Lemans Arena with 7.30pm Nigerian time kick-offs.

Among the first arrivals are France-based pair, Nantes winger Moses Simon and Bordeaux forward Samuel Kalu. Chidera Ejuke, who recently joined CSKA Moscow,  and 2019 Golden Eaglets captain Samson Tijani are also in Austria for the games. Both Ejuke and Tijani are looking to make their Super Eagles debuts.

The Super Eagles official account on Twitter confirmed the players’ arrivals on Monday afternoon.
“Update from our camp: Chidera Ejuke, Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon, Samson Tijani, Kenneth Omeruo have arrived at the Hotel Die Zeit camp,” the handled stated.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is out of the matches with injury.
“SuperEagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is out of the friendly games against Algeria and Tunisia. He picked up a knock in his club’s game in Turkey yesterday,” the handle revealed, also on Monday.

Etebo is the second player to withdraw from the matches, after Victor Osimhen.
