SUPER Eagles captain Ahmed Musa is setting his sights on making a comeback to the European scene, Naija Times reports.
The 28-year-old ended his contract with Saudi Arabia top flight club Al Nassr over the weekend after two years with the side.
Indications from Musa’s camp suggest that his first choice will be to sign for a European club, even if it is not in one of the top five leagues.
His first club after leaving hometown team Kano Pillars was modest Dutch club VVV Venlo in 2010 before he had spells at CSKA Moscow and Leicester City.
Musa was highly regarded at Al Nassr, and the club bade him a fond farewell on Sunday, making a video compilation of his arrival (he was welcome by a large crowd) and on-field highlights.
The video was posted on their Twitter account, with the caption: “Thank you Nigerian falcon. Wishing you all the best in the future!”
Musa joined Al Nassr in August 2018 from Leicester City for around €16m and made 25 goal contributions in 57 matches (11 goals and 14 assists).
He had joined Leicester City from CSKA Moscow in July 2016 for around €20m but he struggled to adapt to the English game.
His longest and most successful time in Europe was with CSKA Moscow who he had two spells with — one on loan from Leicester City.
He played 184 times for the Russian club and made 93 goal contributions (61 goals and 32 assists).
