Jubilant Leone Stars to stay in Lagos

THE Leone Stars of Sierra Leone left Benin early on Saturday morning after their stunning 4-4 draw with the Super Eagles on Friday night.

The team celebrated late into the night after their spectacular comeback from a  4-0 deficit in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, one official told Naija Times in Benin.

The players and team officials left their Lushville Hotel, GRA base for the airport en route to Lagos before 8am on Saturday morning.

The rest of the delegation left the hotel a few minutes later by bus for Lagos.One of the team officials told Naija Times that the team will spend the night in Lagos before leaving for Freetown on Sunday.

The Leone Stars are hopeful of reviving their dying hopes of qualification with an upset win over the Super Eagles in Freetown after their unexpected draw in Benin.

As things stand in Group L of the qualifiers, the Super Eagles are on top with seven points from three games while the Leone Stars have just two points also from three matches.
