BENUE: Sesor partners VSF to provide Covid-19 support in Kwande LG

THE humanitarian NGO, Sesor Empowerment Foundation in a recent partnership with the Victims Support Fund (VSF) has provided relief palliatives to 329 internally displaced and indigent households in Turan, Kwande local government area.

Food and other non-food items were distributed to cushion the effect of Covid-19 on food and other essential needs of families.  

According to officials of the NGO, each VSF-branded food pack contained 10kg Rice, 10kg Beans, 10kg Maize, 4 Liters Vegetable Oil and Salt. While the non-food items comprise 2 bottles of Hand Sanitizers and 3 Masks to each of the benefiting households. 

Sesor distributed the items in 7 underserved Turan communities including Jato Aka Township, Nyihemba, Injor-Sha, Mbaav, Mbachon, Maav, Nzaav, Mbatye amongst others with beneficiaries drawn from these affected communities: Moon, Kumakwagh, Mbakyor, Mbadura and Council Wards in Turan, Kwande local government area.

“The Turan communities in Kwande local government are hard to reach (HTR) and generally underserved. The people have been living in destitution as a result of bad roads and over the past decade, their hardship has been intensified by incidences of violent crimes arising from banditry attacks and activities of herdsmen militia which caused the displacement of over 75,000 people who are now living in host communities,” stated Sesor.

The NGO, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, has been working with displaced persons in the area for a while.
