PDP condemns students’ abduction in Katsina, says Buhari incapable of securing country

THE People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), has restated its position that President Buhari lacks the willpower to tackle the growing insecurity in the country.

The main opposition party condemned the attack and abduction of secondary school in Katsina.

The party, however, chided Buhari for reneging on his promise to lead the war against insecurity from the front.

This was contained in a statement, issued by the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbodiyan titled ” ‘Terrorism: Account for 600 kidnapped Katsina students, PDP tells Buhari,’

According to the statement the PDP argued that what brought the country to the current security situation was the president’s refusal to heed its counsel and that of many Nigerians to rejig the country’s security architecture.

The statement read in party, “This particular abduction in the President’s home state, under his watch, raises further serious questions over this government’s capacity to fight insurgency.”

The opposition party also berated the President for refusing to appear before the House of Representatives to address the security situation of the country after initially promising that he would honour its invitation.

It added, ” “The time of the attack buttresses the fact that President Buhari, as the commander-in-chief, is totally incapable of securing our nation; the very reason there have been widespread calls by patriotic Nigerians that he should resign.”

 The PDP asked the President to end his holiday and ensure the rescue of the pupils, “having earlier admitted that issue of security is his exclusive responsibility,”

 The statement added, “Our party sympathises with the people of Katsina State, particularly the parents of the kidnapped students, who have been subjected to harrowing experience occasioned by the incompetence of the Buhari administration.”
