ONDO: 17-year-old dies after smoking ‘Colorado’ in Oba-Ile

A 17-year-old boy, identified as Joshua (surname withheld), has died in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State after smoking a dangerous substance popularly called ‘Colorado.’

Joshua was said to have taken the hard drug over the weekend after which he went into a coma.

All desperate moves to revive him by family members proved abortive as he died after two days.

It was gathered that the deceased, who was said to be a gentle fellow, was influenced by peer pressure.

Joshua was said to have smoked the substance with some of his friends at Oba-Ile town on Sunday.

According to sources who spoke to Vanguard newspaper in the neighbourhood, the minor broke down and started displaying psychopathic behaviour after taking three puffs of the deadly substance.

“When few moment after Joshua took a puff of colorado, his friends said he had difficulty in breathing and later he began to hallucinate.

“His friends were scared of his reactions and they quickly called on his people.” the source said.

‘Colorado’ is one of the banned psychotropic substances that is currently prevalent among youths. The hard drug is said to be made from synthetic plant.
