THE Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 1,133 new Covid-19 cases.
Since the nation recorded its first case on February 27, 2020, this figure represents the second highest daily count.
It is only beaten by the recent record of 1,145 cases in a single day.
The NCDC, in its daily update on Wednesday, disclosed that 395 recoveries were recorded.
The centre said the recoveries include 134 community recoveries in Lagos State and 96 community recoveries in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) managed in line with guidelines.
There were five new deaths recorded across the country.
17 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reported new cases on Wednesday.
Lagos State reported 397 new infections while the FCT reported 357.
Also, Kaduna and Plateau States recorded 81 and 63 new cases respectively.
Others are from Katsina (46), Sokoto (32), Oyo (28), Ogun (21), Kano (19), Rivers (18), Osun (13), Edo (12), Niger (12), Bayelsa (11), Borno (11), Bauchi (8), Jigawa (2), and Ondo (2).
As of Wednesday night, Nigeria’s total number of confirmed cases stood at 80,922.
While 69,274 patients have recovered, 1,236 fatalities have been recorded.
