Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly sacked their manager Thomas Tuchel and lined up Mauricio Pochettino as his replacement.
German outlet Bild claimed on Thursday that Tuchel was fired after he fell out with the club’s management.
“To be completely honest, during the first six months, I said to myself: “Am I still a manager or am I a politician in sport, a Minister for Sports? In a club like this, it is not always just about football,” Tuchel told Sport 1 on Wednesday night after his side defeated Strasbourg 4-0, hinting at internal trouble.
Tuchel, 47, joined the club at the beginning of the 2018-19 season and led them to back-to-back league titles as well as the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue in 2020.
PSG are currently third in the French Ligue 1, one point behind leaders Lyon, having lost four of their 17 games in the league this season.
Tuchel guided the club to their first Champions League final last season and led them to win a tough group that contained Manchester United and RB Leipzig in the competition this season.
Various reports have claimed that former Tottenham Hotspur manager Pochettino is the front runner to replace Tuchel while former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has also been mentioned.
