LAGOS: Schools not resuming Jan 4, says LASG

THE Lagos State Government has restated that schools in the state should remain shut until it issues directives to the contrary.

The government stressed that this orde is for pblic and private secondary schools in the state, adding that a new resumption date will be announced very soon.

This was made known on Sunday by the Head, Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Kayode Abayomi.

Abayomi explained that schools in the state are not reopening on Monday, January 4, 2021, as earlier announced.

According to him, the second wave of COVID-19 would be a major determinant for the reopening of schools in the state.

He said, “Please, recall that the Ministry of Education earlier announced 4th of January as resumption date for the second term 2020/2021 academic session, but this has since been overtaken by the turn of events due to the recent waves of Covid-19 pandemic.

“As a result of the spike in Coronavirus pandemic, Mr. Governor announced the indefinite closure of all schools. To this end, kindly be informed that a new date of resumption will be announced as soon as possible,” he said.
