Popular Yoruba actress, Orisabunmi, dies at 60

VETERAN movie actress, Folake Aremu, popularly called Orisabunmi, has died, at the age of 60.

The actress, who was married to recently deceased Yoruba actor, producer, Jimoh Aliu — popularly known as Aworo — reportedly died after a brief illness.

Her death was confirmed on Tuesday by the President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, aka Mr Latin.

“She died last night,” Mr Latin said.

Another senior TAMPAN member, Tunde Ola-Yusuff, also announced her death in a Facebook post.

“She left without a goodbye. The sudden death of Mrs Folake Aremu (ORISABUNMI) has been announced.

“Really a shock on everyone. Iya Oosa, may God rest your Soul among the righteous,” the Facebook post read.

Orisabunmi came into limelight for acting in several plays directed by her husband, Aliu.

The duo had separated long before Aliu died on September 17, 2020.
