LAGOS: Billionaire tycoon, Akin-Olugbade, dies at 64

A BUSINESS tycoon, Prince Bolu Akin-Olugbade has died at age 64.

Family sources disclosed to newsmen that the billionaire, reputed for his collection of exotic cars, died today after a brief illness.

Unconfirmed reports from the family said he died from complications arising from Covid-19 infections.

Akin-Olugbade was said to have fallen ill after returning from a wedding ceremony on Boxing Day, where he served as the chairman of the reception.

He was reportedly rushed to a private hospital in Ikeja, Lagos State capital, from where he was last week reportedly discharged.

He was, however, rushed to one of the isolation centres in Lagos Island, last weekend when his condition deteriorated.

A successful lawyer and titled chief in Egbaland, he was known to be obsessed with collecting Rolls Royce brand of car. He was said to have about 10 of the car in his fleet with each bearing a customized plate number.

Akin-Olugbade attended Corona School, Yaba; King’s College, Lagos; London University; University of California (Master’s in Law); and Cambridge University where he got his doctorate specialising in Company Law.

His business interests cut across law, property development, construction, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, maritime and offshore services, investment banking, among others.
