NATIONAL: Buhari appoints Buba Marwa as NDLEA DG

PRESIDENT Buhari has approved the appointment of former Military Administrator of Lagos and Borno states, Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), as the New Director-General of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Marwa will succeed Muhammad Mustapha Abdullah, who was sacked some weeks ago.

Until his appointment as the NDLEA head, Marwa was chairman of the Presidential Committee on Drug Abuse.

Marwa is a retired Nigerian army officer who served as governor of Borno, and then Lagos during the military administrations of Generals Ibrahim Babangida and, Sani Abacha.

Born on September 9, 1953 in Kaduna, Marwa hails from Michika L.G.A of Adamawa State. He attended the Nigerian Military School, Zaria and the Nigerian Defense Academy, Kaduna.

Later, while in the army, he studied at Pittsburgh University, where he obtained a Master’s degree in International Relations, and he obtained another Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.

Marwa was also at a time, Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa.
