LAGOS: Rotary District 9110 Ethics in Business & Profession Seminar 2021 holds today

THE 2021 edition of the Rotary International District 9110’s Ethics in Business and Profession Seminar holds today, Wednesday.

The hybrid event is scheduled for 11 am on Zoom and at the Rotary Centre, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State.

According to past President Ehi Braimah, who is Chairman of the Committee, the event will have an Ethics and Integrity expert, Soji Apampa  as the Guest Speaker while the District Governor, Rtn Bola Oyebade will be the chief host.

The Chief Executive Officer, Convention on Business Integrity, Apampa will speak on the topic “Can you win in business if you uphold ethics and integrity?”

Rtn Braimah stated that the event theme was chosen to reaffirm the need for ethics in our daily endeavors and will be attended by Rotarians and guests from different walks of life.

Last year, the seminar explored the theme “Upholding Ethical Standards in a Challenged Economy,” where a speech was delivered by Princess Aderemi Adebowale, Special Adviser to the Governor on Civic Engagement on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was the Special Guest of Honour.

The Ethics in Business and Profession Seminar is organised yearly by Rotary International District 9110 as part of its contribution towards the development of high ethical standards in the country.

Profile of the Guest Speaker, Soji Apampa

HIS working experience covers training, research, consulting and management in the private and public sectors and civil society.

He is the CEO and co-founder of the Convention on Business Integrity (CBI) concerned with issues of public accountability and transparency and to promote ethical business practices in the private sector and The Integrity Organisation, an anticorruption, research and advocacy organization.

Apampa is currently the Project Director, Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN) Siemens support to which aims to build stronger business collective action amongst ports users in Nigeria, stronger government compliance environment and build public-private arrangements for oversight of compliance with the Ports Standard Operating Procedures and responses to the Grievance Mechanism.

He is the Project Director on an Alliance for Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) Funded Project in Partnership with Cbi Innovations Ltd and Nestle for ‘The Youth Agripreneurship Development Project’, Aimed to Produce 400 Youth and Women Farmers to Increase Production On Maize and Provide Additional Services to Other Farmers.

He led the effort to design and pilot (2012-2014) a Corporate Governance Rating System (CGRS) for the Nigeria Stock Exchange. The CGRS was approved as part of the rules for listing in the new Premium Board of the Exchange by the Nigerian Securities & Exchange Commission in 2015 and made mandatory for all listed companies in 2016.

In 2018, he became a member of the Steering Board of the Corporate Governance Rating System Chaired by the Nigeria Stock Exchange and other members include a representative of the Securities & Exchange Commission, Agusto & Co., CNBC Africa, and the Project Director from the Convention on Business Integrity.

He was Appointed Project Director (2017) for the Track, Analyze, Map and Expose (TAME) Corruption Risks Project funded by the UNDP under the EU Support to Anti-Corruption in Nigeria, FED 2012/306-2201 NGAX60-10th EDF.
