KADUNA: Church pavilion set ablaze at Zangon Kataf

A CHURCH pavilion arranged for youth conference has been set ablaze by unidentified persons in Zangon Kataf.

The pavilion was said to be erected near the palace of  the Agwatyap, famous king in Zangon Kataf LGA of Kaduna state

Though the reason for the action is not yet known, there are speculations that it might not be unconnected with the brewing sectarian feud between the predominantly Muslim Northern Kaduna and the Christian residents in its southern part.

Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai has ordered a diligent and thorough investigation into the incident.

El-Rufai condemned the act and promised that the culprits would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

This was disclosed by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, on Friday.

Aruwan noted that the state received security report detailing the incident, which stated that a pavilion erected by the leadership of the ECWA Church ahead of its conference was set ablaze by unknown persons at a location near the Palace of  the Agwatyap

“The Governor who frowned at( sic) the incident, directed security agencies to carry out diligent investigation towards identifying and punishing the culprits. Investigations into the incident are in progress,” he said.
