TWO suspected fake soldiers were nabbed on Monday along the Okene-Lokoja Expressway by the officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
The arrest happened following the interception of 394 compressed parcels of a drug, being coveyed to a certain destination by the suspects, by the NDLEA officials.
The suspects are identified as Mohammed Nura and Abubakar Dahiru and they were caught with cannabis sativa weighing 234 kilogrammes.
The Commander, Kogi State Command of the NDLEA, Adewunmi Alfred, said the suspects, who were heading for Kano from Lagos State, concealed the drug in different parts of a Toyota Hilux van.
He said, “Our initial investigations revealed that the consignment was taken from Lagos and heading for Kano for delivery. Though the two men identified themselves as military officers, that did not sway our men from a thorough search of their vehicle and the result was the discovery of the illicit drug tucked in every hidden part of the vehicle.
“Indeed, we suspect the two men to be fake military officers until proven otherwise. The vehicle has been impounded, the illicit drug seized and the suspects detained for further investigations. Investigations have commenced and the outcome would be forwarded for further directives and appropriate action.”
