BORNO: Troops repel attack on military base in Dikwa

SUSPECTED Boko Haram insurgents attempted to take over a super military camp located a few kilometres from Dikwa town last night but were repelled by troops of the Nigerian army.

It was gathered that the insurgents came with heavy machine guns and trucks

“They want to get access to the town, so they launched the first attack at the military camp,” a source said.

“Troops immediately responded and engaged with the enemies for about three hours before the enemies withdraw.

“As at now, we can’t say if there’s any casualties. Some of the soldiers went after the enemies down to the bush.”

It was learnt that the insurgents had planned to steal weapons and machines at the military camp but the attempt was foiled due to the recent reinforcement to the mil camp.
