Iheanacho: Ndidi is a great passer, I hope my goals keep coming

KELECHI Iheanacho has praised his compatriot Wilfred Ndidi for his passing ability, an underrated quality of the defensive midfielder.

The Leicester City striker scored with a spectacular volley against Burnley recently after receiving a precise long pass from his Ndidi from deep.

The goal that resulted from the combination of the two Nigerians is one of the two Iheanacho has scored in back-to-back Premier League games against Burnley and Brighton.

“It’s got to be the volley!” Iheanacho told LCFC TV when asked for his favourite strike of the two.

“The pass was great from Wilf (Ndidi) and the little run from Jamie (Vardy) created the space.

“It looks like Jamie’s goal at West Brom! I’m really happy about that, it was a great finish, but I love my goal against Brighton as well.

“The goal at Brighton was more of a team effort with the final ball, a no-look pass, coming from Youri Tielemans”.

Iheanacho gave a thumbs up to the two players that set up both goals.”Both passes were great,” he noted.

“Wilf is a great passer of the ball. I know him and I played with him from the Under-17s team with Nigeria, so he’s a very good passer.

“That pass from Youri is something else!

“If you watch the replay and how the ball is rolling on the floor, the pass is a world-class pass.”

Iheanacho’s recent scoring form has taken his tally this season to seven goals and four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions, and he is hungry for more.

He added: “I’m happy and I’m confident, even if I don’t score. I’m really happy with the goals and hopefully they will keep coming.”

Leicester will have a chance on Sunday afternoon to rise above Manchester United to second in the Premier League table when they host bottom club Sheffield United, who announced the departure of their manager Chris Wilder on Friday.

Having crashed out of the UEFA Europa League, Leicester City no longer have midweek distractions and Iheanacho sees this as a welcome advantage.

“Everyone likes it, it will give everyone time to recover and reset and be ready for the game,” the Nigeria international said.

“It’s been a tough season with two games every single week.

“It’s not been easy, but of course, we need to be professional, we need to work, but it’s really good that we have this week to recover and get ready for the game. We are really getting ready for the game.”

Leicester City are third in the table with 53 points and are focused on finishing in the top four positions to qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
