Arsenal claim comeback win against 10-man Spurs in North London derby

ARSENAL came from behind to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in the North London derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Erik Lamela gave Tottenham Hotspur the lead but Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette scored to give the hosts victory.

Even with captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang dropped due to disciplinary reasons, Arsenal were dominant from kick-off and hit the Tottenham post early on.

However, it was Spurs who took the lead against the run of play. The Argentina forward replaced the injured Heung-min Son earlier and then scored a stunning goal, doing the Rabona from inside the Arsenal box to give Spurs the lead in the 33rd minute.

Odegaard got Arsenal the equaliser they deserved one minute before half-time, firing home after a neat Arsenal move.

Stand-in captain Lacazette got up to score from the penalty spot in the 64th minute after he had been brought down by Davinson Sanchez.

Spurs were reduced to 10 men when Lamela was sent off for a second yellow card in the 76th minute.

He became the first player to score and be sent off in a Premier League game for Tottenham since Emmanuel Adebayor in November 2012, also against Arsenal.

With the defeat, Spurs have now lost nine games in the Premier League this season; the joint-most Jose Mourinho has ever suffered in a single league campaign in his managerial career (also nine in 2015-16 with Chelsea), according to Opta statistics.

Arsenal stayed in 10th place in the Premier League with 41 points from 28 matches, four points and three places behind Spurs.
