Joshua, Fury sign two-fight deal to unify heavyweight titles

ANTHONY Joshua and Tyson Fury’s world heavyweight boxing title fight is close to being a reality.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter revealed on Monday that a two-fight deal has been signed between the two stars.

Joshua, who has Nigerian blood but is British, holds the world heavyweight titles for the World Boxing Association, the World Boxing Organisation and the International Boxing Federation.

Fury, on the other hand, is in possession of the World Boxing Council belt.

The winner of the fight between the two top stars will become the undisputed world heavyweight champion.

“All parties have now put pen to paper and we will be working hard over the next few weeks to confirm the site and date for the biggest fight in boxing,” Hearn told Sky Sports on Monday.

Fury, 32, had said on Friday that he had stopped training because a deal was “nowhere near” being finalised.

However, with Hearn’s announcement, the British fighter is expected to resume preparations for the megafight.

Joshua, 31, has had 25 professional fights, winning 24. Twenty-two of his wins have been by knockout. His only loss was an upset defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr.

Fury has won 30 of his 31 fights and drawn the other.

He has won 21 of his fights by knockout.
