AFTER the successful completion of the state finals in all 36 states and Abuja, the next step in the National Principals Cup is the zonal finals.
The finals in the six geopolitical zones will determine the teams that will compete in the national finals of the competition in Abuja.
The Chairman of the Main Organising Committee Dr Ademola Are said in a press statement that he was pleased with how the state finals were organised.
“The state finals went well and we look forward to the zonal finals with lots of excitement,” Are said.
“The seamless process and high standard on display in the states is a confirmation of the potential and great talents in our secondary schools. We are happy that the aims and objectives of the competition are being achieved.”
Are announced that the zonal finals of the football event will take place between 18 March and 22 March.
Damaturu’s August 27 Stadium will host the North East zone finals, while the finals of the North Central zone will be held at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.
The North West zone finals are billed for the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu will host the South East zone.
Teams in the South West will battle it out at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan, and the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt will host the South South finals.
The six finalists from the zones will converge in Abuja for the national finals.
The National Principals Cup is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development led by Chief Sunday Dare geared towards the discovery of talents in Nigerian secondary schools.
