Oliseh set to release ‘revealing’ autobiography soon

FORMER Super Eagles captain and head coach Sunday Oliseh has written an autobiography that will be released soon.

Oliseh shared the book’s title on Thursday evening and said via social media that he was ‘excited’ about the project.

“I am particularly excited to share with you the imminent release of my revealing, intimate, and at times sad Autobiography entitled the “Audacity to refuse” just for you! #audacity2refuse,” he tweeted.

According to Oliseh, the book is ready for pre-order, although he did not state the date it would go on sale.

Oliseh, now 46, was one of the most outspoken members of the ‘golden generation’ of Nigerian football who thrived in the 1990s and early 2000s.

He was a key member of the Super Eagles team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 in Tunisia, Nigeria’s first AFCON title outside of home soil, and the team that represented Nigeria for the first time ever at the senior World Cup the same year.

Oliseh also played a prominent role in the ‘Dream Team’ that won the men’s football gold medal for Nigeria at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.

He had a successful club career, playing for big European clubs like Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

Oliseh had a coaching stint with lower league Belgian club Verviers before being surprisingly named Super Eagles head coach in 2015.

He however resigned in 2016 after falling out with the Nigeria Football Federation mostly over unpaid wages.

Oliseh was appointed Dutch club Fortuna Sittard’s head coach in 2016 and was on the verge of leading them to promotion to the top flight when he left under a cloud of controversy in 2018.

In his playing days, Oliseh was a combative but still creative midfielder with the ability to pick out long, precise passes and score spectacular goals.
