Lesotho test Teslim Balogun pitch ahead of Super Eagles clash

THE Lesotho national team had their first feel of the Teslim Balogun Stadium turf on Monday evening as they prepared to face Nigeria on Tuesday.

The Southern Africans are in Lagos for their final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier although they have no chance of qualifying.

They held a training session at the stadium’s main pitch, which will host Tuesday’s match.

The Crocodiles, who arrived in Lagos earlier on Monday, trained for about one-and-a-half hours, from around 5pm to 6.30pm.

They however did not give Nigerian journalists at the stadium access to the main pitch to watch the training session.

Under normal circumstances, the first 15 minutes of training sessions are open to journalists, but Covid-19 protocols sometimes means even that little time is not granted to reporters.

Lesotho are bottom of Group L with just three points, while already qualified Nigeria are on top with 11.

Tuesday’s match will kick off at 5pm Nigerian time.
