The othe teams in Group B alongside Nigeria and Cameroon are Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

DR Congo and Cameroon have been strong in the competition in recent years, finishing third and fourth respectively in the last edition in Congo Brazzaville in 2018.

DR Congo were also third in 2012 and runners-up to Tunisia in 2014, while Cameroon won the bronze medal in 2016.

This is the 23rd edition of the biennial competition which has been dominated by Angola who have won it 12 times, including 10 of the last 11 editions.

Nigeria won their only title in 1992, incidentally beating Angola in the final in Egypt.

The President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria Sam Ocheho admitter that it is a tough group but is confident that the preparation is already in place for the team to do well.

Ten teams will participate in the tournament that was originally fixed for 2020 but had to be shifted due to the outbreak of Covid-19, and all the matches will be held inside the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex.
