Buhari receives briefing from Osinbajo after returning from London

PRESIDENT Buhari has received a briefing from Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the State House, Abuja.

The meeting is coming four days after the president returned to the country from London where he had gone for what his media aide described as “routine medical check-up”.

But in a letter to Abdullah ll Bin Al-Hussein, the king of Jordan, the president later said he was taking a “short rest”.

The purpose of the meeting was to keep the president abreast of events that took place in his absence.

Buhari left the country for London on the eve of the nationwide strike embarked upon by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).

The strike paralysed activities in the government hospitals across the country.
NARD’s strike has since been suspended.

But the other unions still on strike in the country.

After the meeting with the vice-president, President Buhari hosted Mohammed Bozoum, president of Niger Republic.

The Nigerien president, who assumed office on April 3, is on a “thank you” visit to Nigeria.
