KWARA: Gunmen abduct farmer, Olayemi

A FARMER and businessman, Alhaji Alaga Olayemi, has been reportedly kidnapped by some gunmen.

The Kwara State Police Command made this known this morning.

According to a statement from the police spokesman in the state, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, Olayemi was kidnapped on his way home from his farm at Oke-Onigbin in Isin Local Government Area of the State around 7.pm yesterday

As of the filing of this report, his whereabouts were unknown.

According to Ajayi, police operatives have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers in order to rescue the victim.

“One Alhaji Alaga Olayemi was reportedly kidnapped in his farm by seven unknown gunmen.

“Intensive efforts to rescue him has been activated by the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Lawal Bagega.”

Giving a detailed report on the abduction, Ajayi said, “Olayemi and two others were ambushed and attacked by the yet-to-be identified gunmen on their way home from a maize farm.

“After the confrontation with the armed men, the two boys luckily escaped being abducted but not without injuries sustained from machete cuts inflicted by the attackers.

Their master, Olayemi, was, however, kidnapped and ferried to an unknown destination by the gunmen.”
