D’banj’ DB Records unveils new female signee, Feza

POPULAR music artiste and businessman, Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo, better known as D’banj, has unveiled a new female signee, name Feza Tadei Kessy but better known as Feza, to his record label, DB Records.

The self-acclaimed ‘Koko Master’, had on Thursday, May 13, took to his verified Instagram page to make the announcement. He uploaded a poster showing the female signee but with a covered face.

“New artiste unveiling by DB records. Can you guess who she is? Been a long time coming and in a few hours, you’ll be meeting the FIRST LADY of @dbrecordsofficial Ooooshe!!!!!” he wrote.

Feza, a Tanzanian, from Arusha, has already released a song titled Bless Me, accompanied by an official video. In 2003, she competed in Big Brother Africa Season 8 and finished eighth out of the 28 contestants, having spent 77 days as a housemate.

D’Banj launched his DB Records in 2012, after leaving the defunct Mo’Hits Records, which he co-owned with popular beat maker, Michael Collins Ajereh well known as Don Jazzy.

Prior to Mo’Hits disintegration, in June 2011, D’banj was signed to Kanye West-led G.O.O.D Music. In December 2012, the musician signed a mega deal with Sony Music Entertainment that included a contract with his brother, KaySwitch and partnership with his label, DB records.

His first signee to DB Records was his younger brother, alongside two producers, Jaysleek and Deevee. The entertainer also signed two brothers, MossKriss and Ralph Kriss, and later the popular actress, Tonto Dikeh.

The news of the actress signing to the label sparked mixed reactions, as some people said she was not recruited for her musical dexterity, but as a PR stunt for the outfit.

She went on to release two songs: Hi and Jeje, which were also welcomed with negative reviews and criticisms from Nigerians.

Following his successful music career, the singer ventured into business, where he invested heavily in the agricultural and ICT sectors.

He owns D’Kings Men Media Limited, a 360 media company and MCOMM Ltd (Median Mobile Communications Limited). D’Kings is responsible for their major digital moves in recent times.

Speaking about his business move, D’banj said “going into business and focusing on the showbiz angle of my career at the time I did, has been my greatest decision.”

Recall that the Oliver Twist singer last year was accused of rape by a lady known by the name Seyitan Babatayo, who claimed the Fuck e Up crooner raped her in 2018. But the Mobolowon singer on July 3, 2020, sued her for N1.5 billion.

The accusation had come shortly after D’banj join other celebs to preach against rape, where he wrote on social media handle, “No means No.”
