Oliseh rejects coaching offers from outside Belgium for family reasons

SUNDAY Oliseh has said he is willing to take up coaching offers in Belgium, where he is based with his family.

The former Super Eagles head coach has not held any notable coaching position since he quit Dutch club Fortuna Sittard under acrimonious circumstances in 2018 when he was on the verge of taking the then second-tier club to the top flight.

“I would like to start working in Belgium, because together with my family we have a very good time here,” the former Nigeria captain told Voetbalnieuws.

“It’s important to me that I can come home after the match and that my family is there. I don’t feel like going abroad and leaving them behind.

“There are offers from abroad, but I want to work close to where I live. In the past I was close to an agreement with Waasland-Beveren, but that fell through.

“First Division B? I have already proved in the past that I do not shy away from that, because I was already working at Fortuna Sittard.”

Oliseh was surprisingly appointed Super Eagles head coach in 2015 but quit one year later after falling out with the Nigeria Football Federation over owed salaries and other issues.

He has had experience in Belgium having previously worked as technical director at Eupen and as coach of another lower division Belgian club Vervetois.
