KADUNA: Police rescue 17 kidnapped Baptist students, 100 still missing

SEVENTEEN students of Bethel Baptist High School have been rescued following an attack by bandits this morning, according to the police.

Spokesman of the commamd, Mohammed Jalije, said the exact number of students kidnapped was yet to be ascertained, adding that details would be made public in due course.

“Tactical police teams went after the kidnappers. We are still on the rescue mission,” he said.

The school located at Damishi town of Chikun Local Government Area was established in 1991.

Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna chapter Rev. John Hayab said that as of Friday, there were 180 boarding students in the school.

Hayab, who is also a member of the Baptist Church, said that so far, 26 students had returned and he was hopeful that more would escape from the bandits.
