ITALY goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a long-term deal after leaving AC Milan.
The French club announced the arrival of Donnarumma on Wednesday, three days after his penalty saves helped Italy beat England in the Euro 2020 final.
“Paris Saint-Germain are pleased to announce the arrival in their squad of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The Italian goalkeeper signed a five-year contract and is linked with the club until June 30, 2026,” the French moneybags announced on their official website.
Donnarumma is only 22 but he has been playing first-team football for AC Milan since 2016.
He is the youngest ever goalkeeper to play for Italy’s senior national team, making his debut against France in September 2016 aged just 17 years and 189 days.
He made 251 senior appearances for AC Milan in all competitions, keeping 88 clean sheets.
“I am very happy to be part of this great club, Paris Saint-Germain,” Donnarumma said.
“I feel ready to take on this new challenge, and continue to grow here. With Paris, I want to win as much as possible and give joy to the supporters.”
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi said he was delighted to welcome the Italy international to the club.
“We are pleased to welcome Gianluigi Donnarumma to Paris Saint-Germain,” he said.
“We congratulate him on his victory at UEFA EURO 2020, and his title as the best player of the competition.
“I know Gianluigi will receive a warm welcome from everyone at the club, including his teammates, our staff and all the Parisian supporters.”
Donnarumma, who has 33 Italy caps, joined PSG on a free transfer.
