ANAMBRA: APGA rejects use of electoral materials from Imo

THE All Progressives Grand Alliance has kicked against the alleged plans by the Independent National Electoral Commission to distribute electoral materials for the November 6 Anambra governorship election from Imo State.

In a statement attributed to the INEC National Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu, the commission had said due to the destruction of its property in Anambra State by gunmen, it would use its zonal stores in Owerri to organise movement of non-sensitive materials for the Anambra governorship election.

But in reaction yesteday in Awka by the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors, Chinedu Obigwe, the party said doing this meant the electoral body had been compromised.

While calling on INEC to rescind the decision, Obigwe said the electoral body had no justification to keep materials for Anambra election in Imo State.

He said, “Imo State is not even secure and the insecurity problem in that state would affect the movement of the materials on election day.

“Nothing stops INEC from storing the materials in Asaba, Delta State that is very close to Anambra.

“Another thing is that with the utterances of Governor Hope Uzodimma that the All Progressives Congress will deploy ‘seen and unseen hands’ to win the November poll, INEC’s decision to keep materials for the election in Imo State is a proof that it’s part of the plot to rig the election.

“The leadership of INEC cannot feign ignorance of APC’s boast to rig the November 6th election and telling the people of Anambra that they will distribute materials meant for the election from Owerri is annoying and unacceptable.”
