TWO Nigerian players were on the scoresheet on Wednesday night to send Leicester City into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
England-born Nigerian Ademola Lookman and Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho both scored as Leicester City defeated hosts Millwall 2-0.
Lookman opened the scoring four minutes into the second half, with Iheanacho involved in the goal.
Iheanacho’s shot was saved by the Millwall goalkeeper but Lookman was on hand to smash home the rebound.
Iheanacho then made sure of the win in the closing stages of the game by finishing off a Leicester City counterattack for his second goal of the season in eight appearances.
In other Carabao Cup third round games on Wednesday night, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur needed penalties to overcome Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively.
Chelsea won 4-3 on penalties after full-time ended 1-1.
Timo Werner gave hosts Chelsea the lead in the 54th minute but Cameron Archer equalised for Aston Villa 10 minutes later.
At Molineux, Tottenham took a 2-0 lead through Tanguy Ndombele and Harry Kane but they were pegged back by Leander Dendocker and Daniel Podence strikes.
Wolves however missed three of their penalties in the shootout to lose 3-2.
Arsenal eased past lower league side AFC Wimbledon at the Emirates, with goals from Alexandre Lacazette, Emile Smith-Rowe and Eddie Nketiah.
The only upset of the night occurred at Old Trafford with Manchester United losing 1-0 to West Ham.
Manuel Lanzini struck in the ninth minute to give the Hammers a measure of revenge after their 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
It was David Moyes’s first win at Old Trafford since he was sacked by Manchester United in 2014.
The draw for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup was done on Wednesday night, with Arsenal pitted against Leeds United and Chelsea to host Southampton.
In other all-Premier League ties, West Ham will welcome Manchester City, Tottenham will travel to Burnley, while Leicester City will host Brighton.
