Osimhen reaches five goals in one week as Napoli thrash Sampdoria

VICTOR Osimhen scored his fourth and fifth goals of the last one week to help Napoli to a big away win in Serie A on Thursday.

The Super Eagles striker’s two goals were part of Napoli’s 4-0 win at Sampdoria that sent them back to the top of Serie A.

Napoli are the only side left in the Italian top flight with a 100 per cent start to the season and they are first in the table with 15 points from five matches.

Osimhen started Thursday’s rout in the 10th minute with a right-foot finish off Lorenzo Insigne’s assist.

Fabian Ruiz doubled Napoli’s lead in the 39th minute with a long-range effort with his left foot to give the league leaders a 2-0 advantage into half-time.

Osimhen made it 3-0 with another right-foot finish five minutes after the break, while Piotr Zielinski completed the rout in the 59th minute.

Nigeria international Osimhen is currently one of the most in-form strikers in the whole of Europe, scoring five goals in his last three games, all within one week.

He scored twice last Thursday as Napoli came from two goals down to hold Leicester City to a 2-2 UEFA Europa League draw at the King Power Stadium.

He was also on target on Monday, scoring the first goal in Napoli’s 4-0 Serie A win at Udinese.

The 22-year-old is already halfway to matching his goals total for last season, when an often disrupted first campaign in Italy fetched him 10 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions.
