PAUL Onuachu has been tipped to leave Genk in January.
The Super Eagles striker was the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League last season with 31 goals from 38 appearances.
He continued his superb scoring form this campaign, already bagging nine goals in just right league games.
Following his prolific numbers last season, Onuachu was expected to leave the Belgian club, but he has stayed back at Genk and continues to thrive.
There have been reports linking the lanky striker with several clubs across Europe, with claims that he could leave at the end of the season.
However, his current form appears to have sped up the interest of English club West Ham, who are incidentally in the same UEFA Europa League group with Genk.
The two clubs are scheduled to meet on 21 October, and this could give West Ham the chance to have a closer look at the Nigerian.
According to Sport Witness, a journalist with Sport/Foot Peter t’Kint is confident a transfer in January is in the works.
“In a few weeks, after the international break, there will be a showdown with West Ham, we are looking forward to that with great anticipation. If Paul Onuachu also hands over his business card (to West Ham), he will be gone in January. Unfortunately,” he wrote.
The outlet is suggesting that all that is left is for Onuachu to give his nod for West Ham to begin the transfer process for January.
West Ham are in need of an out-and-out striker to challenge Michail Antonio, who is the only centre forward at the club following the departure of Sebastian Haller to Ajax.
