Mount grabs his first EPL hat-trick as Chelsea trounce 10-man Norwich City

MASON Mount scored his first-ever hat-trick in the Premier League, steering Chelsea to a 7-0 demolition of Norwich City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues extended their lead at the top of the table to four points over second-place Liverpool and left Norwich City rooted to the bottom.

Chelsea shrugged off the absence of the injured strike pair Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner to get a fast start, Mount opening the scoring in the eighth minute.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James added two more goals in the 18th and 42nd minutes respectively to give the Blues a 3-0 lead into half-time.

Ben Chilwell joined the party 12 minutes after the break, becoming the fourth Englishman to score in the one-sided match.

With Chillwell’s goal, Chelsea became the first team to have four or more different English players score for them in a Premier League game since Bournemouth against Hull in October 2016, according to Opta statistics.

It is also the first time Chelsea have had this many Englishmen score for them in a single Premier League game.

Max Aarons scored an own goal to make it 5-0, just before Ben Gibson was sent off for two bookings.

Mount completed his treble with two late goals and became the 20th different player to score a Premier League hat-trick for Chelsea, with only Arsenal (21) having more different hat-trick scorers in the competition.
