Iheanacho, Onyeka in action as Leicester edge out Brentford, West Ham beat Spurs

LEICESTER City claimed their third straight win across competitions on Sunday, defeating Brentford 2-1 at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Two Super Eagles stars were involved in the tight fixture: forward Kelechi Iheanacho for Leicester City and midfielder Frank Onyeka for Brentford.

Youri Tielemans got Leicester City on their way with a long-range effort in the 14th minute and the visitors took the slender lead into half-time.The hosts however pulled level on the hour mark through Mathias Jorgensen.

James Maddison then settled the match with a simple finish in the 73rd minute, set up by in-form Zambia striker Patson Daka, who had replaced Jamie Vardy at the beginning of the second half.Iheanacho, who has contributed three assists in his last three games, played the full match and kept the Brentford defence busy.

Onyeka, on his part, started for Brentford but was replaced by Iran midfielder Saman Ghoddos in the 76th minute.The other Nigerians at Leicester City were not involved in the action. Wilfred Ndidi is in recovery from injury while Ademola Lookman was an unused substitute for the third consecutive game.

Leicester City rose to ninth place in the table with 14 points, while Brentford dropped to 12th, two points behind.

In the other early kick-off in the Premier League on Sunday, West Ham defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at the London Stadium, with Michail Antonio scoring the game’s only goal.

The Jamaica international has now scored six goals against Tottenham Hotspur, the most he has netted against any single club in the Premier League.

The win took West Ham up to fourth place in the Premier League with 17 points, as Spurs stay in sixth place with 15 points.
