WILFRED Ndidi is nearing full fitness after returning to training with Leicester City today.
The Super Eagles midfielder has been out of action with injury since 25 September, missing five Leicester City matches and two for the national team.
The 24-year-old’s picture at training was posted by Leicester City on Tuesday as they prepared for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup fourth-round clash with Brighton.
It is the first time the Nigeria Nigeria international has been fully involved in training sessions since September.
The midfielder is on course to be fit for the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde in November after missing the double-header against Central African Republic in early October.
Meanwhile, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has said he will make changes to his starting line-up for the fixture against Brighton at the King Power Stadium.
Ndidi’s compatriot Kelechi Iheanacho started Leicester’s last three matches as they secured successive victories over Manchester United, Spartak Moscow and Brentford over a 10-day period, and the Super Eagles forward could be given a rest.
On Tuesday during his preview of the Carabao Cup encounter, Rodgers was asked if he would introduce fresh faces on Wednesday.
“No doubt,” he told the media.
“We can’t use the same players all the time, so we’ll definitely make changes, but it doesn’t take away the fact we want to win the game.
“We’ll be bringing good players into the game.”
Iheanacho’s sttrike partner Jamie Vardy was substituted at half-time in the Premier League win over Brentford on Sunday and Rodgers provided an update on the Englishman’s fitness.
“He felt something in the warm-up,” the manager explained.
“I could just see in the game that Jamie wasn’t quite himself, wasn’t quite as dynamic, so I don’t want to risk any further injury.”We made the change and brought in Patson (Daka), who’s fresh and confident after his midweek performance.”
