ANAMBRA: Accept defeat, avoid litigations – Ohanaeze cautions candidates

OHANAEZE Ndigbo has cautioned all governorship candidates of political parties in the just concluded governorship election to accept defeat and avoid legal battle against Governor-elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo.

The apex Igbo socio-political organisation noted that the people’s verdict in the election is sacrosanct.

In a press statement issued by its Secretary-General,  Mazi Emmanuel Isiguzoro, today, the group also applauded President Muhammadu, the Independent National Electoral Commission, and security agents for the success of the exercise.

Reacting to the outcome of the election, the Ohanaeze warned that “on no account should it be challenged at the tribunal and courts”.

The statement added, “There was no evidence of widespread electoral frauds and malpractice, but we commended INEC for conducting free, fair and credible elections in Anambra, we warn against utilizing the Supreme Court to swap the people’s mandate given to Soludo by Anambra people.

“We commended President Muhammadu Buhari for authorising INEC to be truly independent and carrying out her constitutional duties, without influencing or manipulating negatively the electoral processes in favour of  APC that came third in the contest”.
