Iheanacho replaces Lookman, Ndidi struggles as Chelsea thrash Leicester

CHELSEA returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday with a 3-0 thrashing of Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

The league leaders were forced to a 1-1 draw by Burnley in their last match before the international break but the Blues were utterly dominant against their hosts on Saturday.

Antonio Rudiger, N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic were all on target as Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Three Nigerian players, Ademola Lookman, Wildred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, featured for Leicester City as they were well beaten in front of their home fans.

Rudiger got Chelsea on their way in the 14th with a header from a corner kick, the Germany defender’s fourth career goal against Leicester City.

Kante doubled the lead against his former club in the 28th minute after he was allowed a free run by the porous Leicester midfield anchored by Ndidi.

Substitute Pulisic rounded off the scoring in the 71st minute, poking home from point-blank range after being set up by another substitute Hakim Ziyech.

Lookman was handed his fourth league start of the season but he made little impact beyond scoring a goal that was ruled out for offside, and was replaced by Iheanacho at the beginning of the second half.

Ndidi, who recently returned from a long layoff, played the full game as Leicester City were overrun.

Indeed, Leicester City were lucky it was not a much bigger scoreline, with three Chelsea ‘goals’ ruled out for offside.

Chelsea extended their lead at the top of the table to six points over Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

Leicester City dropped to 12th with 15 points, 14 points behind Chelsea.
