Unlucky Osimhen diagnosed with multiple facial fractures, to undergo surgery

VICTOR Osimhen suffered multiple displaced facial fractures after a clash of heads on Sunday, Napoli have confirmed.

The Super Eagles striker was taken off early in the second half of Napoli’s 3-2 defeat to Inter Milan at the San Siro, his side’s first Serie A loss this season.

The 22-year-old was then taken straight to the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan where he received emergency treatment on his horribly swollen face.

He clashed heads with Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar and will undergo surgery.

“The instrumental tests carried out on Victor Osimhen at the end of the Inter v Napoli match revealed multiple displaced fractures of the orbit and left cheekbone,” Napoli tweeted, giving details of the injury.

“The player will undergo surgery in the next few days and will remain under observation at the Niguarda hospital in Milan.”

Osimhen had an ugly lump around the left eye and cheekbone after the nasty collision, be he was able to walk off the pitch, although clearly dazed.

Reports in Italy have suggested that he could be out of action for around a month, meaning he should recover in time for the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

The Nigeria international is Napoli’s top scorer this season with nine goals in all competitions.

Osimhen has had awful luck with injuries since his move to Napoli last year.

Apart from regular knocks, he broke his shoulder while on international assignment in November and had a clash of heads weeks later on Napoli duty.

He was taken straight to hospital from the pitch both times and spent time out of action.
