Ndidi confident Leicester will beat Watford, ‘grateful’ to Ranieri

WILFRED Ndidi believes Leicester City’s win in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday will propel them to victory in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Foxes defeated Legia Warsaw 3-1 in the continental competition on Thursday to snap a winless streak of three matches.

Leicester City midfielder Ndidi, who scored his first goal of the season during the win, is backing his side to consolidate on that victory when they host Watford on Sunday.

“It was a beautiful game and it’s good for the confidence,” the Nigeria international told LCFC TV.”We look forward to what’s coming on Sunday. They (Watford) are a good side, but we have confidence now after the win.”

Watford manager Claudio Ranieri was the man who brought Ndidi to Leicester City from Belgian club Genk in 2017, and the Super Eagles star remains indebted to the Italian, who led the Foxes to a miraculous Premier League title in 2016.

“I’m very grateful for what he did, bringing me to Leicester and the Premier League,” Ndidi said.

“But it’s a game and we see what comes.”

Despite still not being too far away from the relegation zone, Watford proved they could claim a big scalp last weekend with a stirring 4-1 win over Manchester United.

Ndidi recognises the threat posed by the Hornets under Ranieri’s guidance.

“Of course every team in the Premier League is up there and you have to be on your toes,” Ndidi admitted.

“Anything can happen. We have to keep our heads up and try to get all the points that we can. We’re home and all the fans will be behind us.

“Their main threats are their wingers and their direct play. You know, they fight for second balls also. The manager is going to speak to us about it and we’ll just see what the plan will be. We look forward to it.”

Leicester City are 12th in the Premier League table with 15 points, four spots and two points ahead of Watford.
