PREMIER League clubs Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur had to come from behind on Sunday to overcome lower-league opponents in the third round of the FA Cup.
Liverpool recovered to beat Shrewsbury Town 4-1 at Anfield, while Spurs scored three goals in the final 20 minutes to beat Morecambe.
Daniel Udoh, an England-born forward of Nigerian descent, gave third-tier Shrewsbury a shock lead in the 27th minute as they pursued a huge upset.
The young Liverpool side responded quickly though, equalising through 17-year-old Kaide Gordon seven minutes later.
Fabinho then fired Liverpool ahead from the penalty spot just before half-time.
Substitute Firmino made it 3-1 before Fabinho put icing on the cake in added time.
Tottenham Hotspur had a tougher time than Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
After going behind to an Anthony O’Connor strike in the 33rd minute, Spurs laboured for long before finding the breakthrough against the third division side.
Harry Winks finally equalised with a free-kick in the 74th minute before further strikes from substitutes Harry Kane and Lucas Moura swung the tie in the hosts’ way.
At the London Stadium, West Ham defeated Leeds United 2-0 through Manuel Lanzini and Jarrod Bowen, who netted in the 34th and 93rd minutes.
Another Premier League side, Wolverhampton Wanderers, also advanced after beating second-tier Sheffield United 3-0 at Molineux.
Daniel Podence was directly involved in all three goals, scoring two and setting up another for Nelson Semedo.
Liverpool, Spurs, West Ham and Wolves join Manchester City, Chelsea and others who progressed to the fourth round on Saturday.
