Barcelona confirm Aubameyang signing, insert €100m buyout clause

BARCELONA have finally announced the recruitment of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the striker left Arsenal.

The Gabon captain travelled to Spain to complete the deal on Monday night but Barcelona held off the confirmation until Wednesday.

Arsenal confirmed on Tuesday night that the 32-year-old had left them by mutual consent four years after joining from Borussia Dortmund.

“FC Barcelona and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have reached an agreement for the player to join the Club after the striker terminated his contract with Arsenal FC,” the Spanish giants stated on Wednesday.

“The player will sign a contract until 30 June 2025 with an option to agree departure on 30 June 2023 and his buyout clause will be set at 100 million euros.

“Shortly the Club will provide details of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s presentation as a first team player.”

Aubameyang left Arsenal after falling out with manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s hierarchy over disciplinary issues.

He scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for the Gunners, although his last appearance for them was in December.

The flamboyant striker joined Arsenal for £56m in January 2018 and left on a free transfer exactly four years later.
