Oluwo of Iwo confirms wedding to Kano princess

THE Oluwo of Iwo Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi has announced his upcoming wedding to Princess Firdauz Abdullahi of the royal family in Kano.

The wedding is billed to hold on March 19, 2022, at the residence of the Madakin of Kano.

According to the wedding invitation shared on Instagram by the monarch, the reception “strictly for ladies” will hold on the same day at The Gidan Rumfa, the palace of the Emir of Kano.

The Oluwo had divorced his Jamaican wife Chanel Chin in 2019.

The union which produced a son named Oduduwa, ended due to irreconcilable differences.

The Oluwo’s wife-to-be is 27 years old and is also Ado Bayero’s granddaughter and the Emir of Kano’s niece, according to palace sources.

In February, a letter surfaced on social media, suggesting that the Oluwo requested N20 million from Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola to finance his wedding since it was a “marriage of two important institutions in Nigeria.”
