UCL: Mbappe set to feature vs Real as Pochettino, Ancelotti talk tough

KYLIAN Mbappe is on course to return from injury on Wednesday when Paris Saint-Germain visit Real Madrid in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie.

The France international scored the only goal of the first leg as PSG won 1-0 three weeks ago, but he has been nursing an injury and missed last weekend’s Ligue 1 defeat to Nice.

He has however been included in the squad for Wednesday’s reverse fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu and has been pictured in training.

With Mbappe likely back to play alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar in a scary front three, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino is confident his side will not be intimidated in Madrid.

“The challenge is to maintain our advantage from the first leg. We have a lot of respect for Real Madrid. A club that wins 13 Champions League titles; that does not happen by accident. But we are not scared. We will try to play our own game,” Pochettino said.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is also upbeat about his side’s chances of turning the tie around.

He said: “We’ve worked really well on the physical side of our game over the past three weeks. We didn’t play well in Paris, but we’re confident and have faith that we can put in a really good performance on Wednesday night.”
