Banks refunded over N95b to customers in 2021 – CBN

THE Nigerian Central Bank announced today that banks had refunded N95.2 billion to consumers as of December 2021.

This is according to data given by the bank at the bank’s 2022 exhibition, which was hosted in Jalingo, Taraba State.

While asking the public to constantly file complaints with banks about service-related concerns, the apex  bank stated that as of December 2021, there had been 27,080 complaints from customers, with 25,483 complaints satisfactorily handled.

Idris Dagona, Branch Controller of CBN in Jalingo, said during his speech at the fair that the fair was aimed at educating the public and obtaining comments that would help inform future policy reviews and advancements.

“The sensitization will also highlight the position of the Bank as a dynamic organisation with a view to promoting confidence in the economy, improve the standard of living for all Nigerians, thereby making CBN a proactive regulator”.

According to our source, the two-day expo in Jalingo aimed to educate the public about all of the apex bank’s efforts and deepen public comprehension of the bank’s initiatives.

The bank’s programs including as payment systems, consumer protection, financial inclusion, clean Naira Policy, Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises funding  interventions, and e-naira were among the topics  covered in the sensitization event.
