ARSENAL boosted their Premier League top four ambitions with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.
England forward with Nigerian heritage Bukayo Saka was the standout player as the Gunners bounced back from midweek’s home defeat to Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta’s side’s sixth win from seven moved them four points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United, who have played a game more.
Saka struck the game’s only goal in the 30th minute with a low drive from the edge of the box after Villa failed to properly clear a cross.
Saka, aged 20 years 195 days, is the youngest Englishman to score five away goals in a single Premier League season for Arsenal
Villa made it more of a contest after the break and went close to equalising when Ollie Watkins’ deflected shot hit the outside of the post, before substitute Danny Ings headed on to the roof of the net.
Arsenal have won five consecutive away Premier League games for the first time since May 2015 (also five), with their last three such victories coming by a single goal, according to Opta statistics.
A relieved Arsenal burst into jubilant celebrations at the final whistle as they moved closer to their dream of returning to the UEFA Champions League for the first time in five years.
