KELECHI Iheanacho led the Leicester City attack on Sunday as they defeated Brentford 2-1 at the King Power Stadium.
The Nigeria international started as the centre forward in the absence of Jamie Vardy, but it was Timothy Castagne and James Maddison who struck in the first half to give Leicester City their third Premier League win in four games.
Iheanacho was brilliant in his role as the focal point of the Leicester City attack and he was on for 86 minutes before making way for Zambia striker Patson Daka.
The other Nigerians at Leicester City, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman, were missing in action on Sunday.
Ndidi sustained an injury on Thursday that could rule him out for a long spell, while Lookman missed the game through illness, according to Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers.
Brentford scored their only goal in the 85th minute through Yoane Wissa, while their Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka was an unused substitute.
All three of Iheanacho, Lookman and Onyeka have been called up for Nigeria’s Qatar 2022 World Cup playoff tie against Ghana.
The first leg is scheduled for Kumasi on Friday, with the second leg four days later in Abuja.
Ghana defender Daniel Amartey played the full game for Leicester City on Sunday.
The victory took Leicester City to 10th spot in the Premier League table with 36 points from 27 games, while Brentford are 15th with 30 points from 30 matches.
