Will Smith slaps Chris Rock for making jokes at his wife on Oscar stage

HOLLYWOOD actor, Will Smith and comedian, Chris Rock had a squabble during the Oscar telecast. Chris was on stage to present an award for a documentary feature and made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

He joked about her shaved head in the movie, “G.I. Jane”. Jada Pinkett Smith had announced last year that she shaved her head after struggling with alopecia. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Now at this point, I can only laugh… y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia. Just all of a sudden, one day…it just showed up like that. Now, this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide. So, I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions.”

Smith went on stage and smacked Chris on the face and yelled, “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth!” as he went back to his seat.

The Oscar audience and social media viewers were stunned with some believing it to be a comedy skit. Sean ‘P.Diddy’ Combs who was the next presenter addressed the situation by saying, “Will and Chris, we’re going to solve this like family. Right now we’re moving on with love. Everybody make some noise.”

Smith later won the Oscar for his performance in “King Richard” for his nomination in best actor category and during his acceptance speech apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees for his actions. Chris was not mentioned in the apology.

His speech goes thus, “I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award. It’s not about winning an award for me.”

“It’s about being able to shine a light on all of the people. Tim and Trevor and Zack and Saniyya and Demi and Aunjanue and the entire cast and crew of ‘King Richard,’ Venus and Serena, the entire Williams family. Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams.”
