‘The 1851 Agidingbi Game is a Chess game variant built around the historical narrative of the 1851 Bombardment of Lagos by the British Naval Forces… it is an infusion of Lagos history and culture with the latest gaming technology in producing an experience in Chess Game format’
HIS excitement is palpable, dripping wet and infectious from the tone of the message he shared on his Facebook page to announce the birth of his baby, 1851 Agidingbi Chess Game.
“It pleases me today to finally announce that the 1851 Agidingbi Chess Game is finally Available on iOS and Android,” sings Oludamola Adebowale, the super-creative, multi-talented artist, documentarist, Editor of the popular African culture activist and advocate magazine, ASIRI.
“The 1851 Agidingbi Game is a Chess game variant built around the Historical narrative of the 1851 Bombardment of Lagos by the British Naval Forces,” he says in his FB post.
“The 1851 Agidingbi Chess Game is an infusion of Lagos history and culture with the latest gaming technology in producing an experience in Chess Game format,” he adds.
The Chess game “seeks to teach a bit of Lagos history while improving IQ, mental awareness, risk analysis, leadership skills and more.”
“The Objective and notion behind the creation of the Game are to infuse Technology together with History as a way of preserving History and Culture and also showcasing it to the world in a flexible and engaging medium.”
The need to develop Nigeria’s first variant of the Chess Game started in 2020, discloses Adebowale, who is also the curator of the Timeless Memories, a yearly conceptual art exhibition through which he celebrates the life and illustrious career of the Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka.
